“We need to change the attitude that punishes women for their sexuality, but gives men a pat on the back for theirs.” President Barack Obama said at the White House Summit on the United State of Women, this past week.

This past weekend, mass gun violence was unleashed yet again. This time in Orlando, in a crowded night club. Something like 50 people, fellow human beings, murdered and an equal number injured by one extremist psychopath, armed with an assault rifle. The most casualties in a single gun incident in our nation’s history.

Today marks 95 years since the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote, and 44 years since Congress designated its anniversary Women’s Equality Day. This gives us the opportunity to consider how far we’ve come, how far we have to go, and envision what the world would look like if women attained full equality. (more…)

Why are we not surprised.   The study referenced in this article found that, among players of the game HALO3,  the loser segment of the players are responsible for most of the ugly remarks and harassment aimed at those women players , who dared enter the arena. (more…)

More or less, dictionaries tell us a slut is ‘ a woman who engages in promiscuous sexual behavior.  That definition is based on a cultural construct that says the only proper form of sexual expression for women must exist within a marriage, and even then, in the most conservative view, it must be associated with willful procreation.
